You try to transfer data from Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac or Outlook for Mac 2011, such as email and contacts, to Microsoft Outlook for Windows. To do this, you try to import the.olm file that was exported from Outlook for Mac. First, go to File in the top-left to reach the menu shown below, then click Open & Export, then Import/Export. Choose the option you want and click Next. For this particular example, we will be using a.CSV (Comma Separated Values) file that was exported from the email service provider.

Since the release of Microsoft Office 2007, all Outlook contacts are stored in a PST file. Copying your Outlook account's PST file to another computer or drive is important so you have backup copy all of your important business contacts. You may also view the contacts stored in the PST file in another computer if that computer has Microsoft Office 2007 or a newer version installed. Before copying this file, you must first locate the Outlook contacts file.

Click the 'Start' to open the Start menu and Search field.

Type '%USERPROFILE%AppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlook' (without quotes) in the Start menu search box. Press the 'Enter' key on your keyboard to bring up a folder window.

The OST (Microsoft Exchange offline) file that is named as the email address you use with your Outlook account is the file containing contacts and other Outlook data.

Alternately, you can locate the Outlook OST file using Windows Explorer. Open Windows Explorer, click the 'C' drive icon, and double-click the 'Users' folder to open it. Double-click the folder with your username, and then double-click 'AppData | Local | Microsoft | Outlook' to access the OST file.

In the database or spreadsheet program, export the contacts data to a CSV (comma separated values) file. Make sure the columns have meaningful headers, though they don't need to correspond precisely to the fields used in the Outlook address book. You can manually map columns to fields during the import process.
